I didn`t think it could be done. The books were just so epic that I believed putting them on film (successfully)was an impossibility. Jackson did the impossible. He richly deserved to win the Directing Oscar and I believe he was robbed. Kudo`s to you Mr. Jackson.

It was very close to the book, though they cut some out, it was still very close. Gives definete faces to characters that were previously very vague. Legolas is ho~t.. and Gollum, Elrond and Gandalf are cool. I`ll have to agree with my dad on Frodo being a fruit though. =P I was waiting for another good fantasy after Harry Potter, and this one beats Harry blind-folded. =D

At $13 per movie these days, I`m happy it was 3 hours (but its still a rip off)! Great movie. Can`t wait for Part 2 I think it is one of the best movies since Star Wars and Titanic. The only difference is that I would see it more then once. If you havent read the books you prolly wont like the movie as much as the ppl that have. I`ve never read ANY of the books so i didnt think the movie was THAT GREAT... its long, borring and the character development sux.. i dont even know the names of the other 2 white guys.. the only characters i know of are Frodo,Gandalf and Strider dude (sps?) the ending was STUPID and now i have to wait for the
