Great film, Danny Boyle is a master at being able to discourage his characters on screen but at the same time inspire them and their audiences. James Franco also gave a wonderful performance.

Acclaimed director Danny Boyle has done a lot with a limited story in this adaption of Aron Ralston's harrowing account of being trapped under a boulder in a Utah canyon for over five days. The film is carried entirely by the acting virtuouso performance of James Franco who demonstrates previously heretofore undiscovered range and versatility as the titular character Ralston. Were it not for Colin Firth's performance in The King's Speech Franco would likely be the favourite for the Oscar for Best Actor. The film moves along at a good clip and Franco's anguish is evidence enough for the drama unfolding on screen. Boyle minimizes the screen time and compartmentalizes the whole ordeal int

AWESOME!!! Would have liked to see a clip or something involving him and his parents - maybe a quick interview at the end.. but a great flick reflecting this man's efforts and actions to survive - really makes you question what you would do.

This movie was great. I finally had the opportunity to see this and I found it to be so heart wrenching but so beautiful. It's amazing what someone can do to save their own life. James Franco was excellent, his performance really made you feel the pain and the yearning to survive. Trust me you gotta see this.

James Franco, as always, does an amazing job of letting us in to the mind and emotions of his character. Somewhat of a disturbing subject matter to watch but at the same time a good character study....an intimate glimpse into human frailty and ultimate strength. Little slow at times as the hours drag on interminably but I enjoyed it very much just the same. Not necessary to see on the big screen it would make a good renter.
