    The Naked Gun

Has some funny bits, but the dumb-dumb outweighed the funny-dumb for me. Might have been three stars if not for the wasted potential.

    My Daughter Is A Zombie

Monday, August 11, 2025 2:11:34 PM | (Age Not Specified)

I was fully expecting to find this cringeworthy since I'm not a fan of over-the-top slapstick humor and thought that would be what I was getting. But surprise, it is seriously good. I actually laughed at the parts that were supposed to be funny and was in tears at the end, as were half of the viewers in the theatre. There's a little bit of zombies being terrifying, but it's mostly about the family. These are top-notch actors and I think that contributed to my liking it. My husband felt the same.

    Superman

I saw it with my son. He is 19, and the older he gets, the harder it is for us to connect on things. This movie was well enjoyed by the both of us. It had a lot of action, and the visual and sound effects were great. The best part for me, as a father, was the end scene, with the song I am a punk rocker. It reminded me of my youth, and instantly I felt a stronger bond with my son. It is a great movie, and even a better family movie. Super highly recommended from me.

    The Naked Gun

for the spoof genre, the movie is quite good. I loved the chemistry between the leads (and not it is rumoured that they are dating in real life!) - and of course Liam Neeson is great making fun of all the action flicks he ever played (and he played in sooo many of them). Pamela Anderson is excellent too, toned down as a mature femme fatale, and showing off quite good acting skills. As a person of a certain demographic I also appreciated that the main characters were people born in the previous century. Keep in mind: it is no art house movie, it is no a thriller or a cop movie - it is a spoof comedy, so everything is over the top and I totally understand it is not everybody’s cup of tea. My favourite parts were (of course) the night vision scene plus the snowman episode - somebody in the writers team has really amazing imagination to come up with something like this. I recommend, but only if you like this this genre (spoofs).
