  Helen is a 2009 American dramatization film featuring Ashley Judd and coordinated by Sandra Nettelbeck. It takes after a teacher (Judd) who overcomes serious dejection after a huge breakdown, with the assistance of new companion Matilda (Smith). Shooting occurred late 2007 in Vancouver. Also, Goran Visnjic is in the film.

  Ashley Judd and Goran Visnjic display a stunning level of acting within the 120 min of this movie time. I applaud the creators for making this script really something special. The acting crew (as I mentioned Judd and Visnjic) must have been previously informed on how to do such a professional display of people entangled with depression/someone who has depression. Many agree that this movie is really great and can really help you if you have someone suffering from depression. Seeing this movie from with a viewpoint of a psychologist: Going mad about possible illusions and coming up somewhere leveled (not on top). Helen Leonard is a character that only sees 2 persons in her lifetime, and the movie really depicts it in this way, offering a dark and sometimes irritating tone to the whole picture.

  People suffering depression is very well portrayed and ECT is shown as having a positive impact, which it can if medication is unsuccessful, however, if currently suffering from depression i would NOT recommend watching. Maybe friends and family to help them understand a little better, but no one truly understands unless you have been there...

  Ashley Judd does a phenominal job in this role, and really defines the hardship one has while going through depression. Excellent movie for those families and friends who are trying to understand what one is going through. This is one of the first true insight I have come across. I highly recommend it.
