great movie, entertaining, but heartbreaking if you are an animal lover, no one likes to see an animal in pain, but funny and quirky in parts.everyone in the theater enjoyed this movie. maybe 30 mins could be cut out.

Just goes to prove the power of advertising. Without doubt the worst film I have ever sat through. Worse even than "The Iron Lady" which at least had a breath taking performance from Meryl Streep, but "War Horse" does not have a single redeeming feature. Did Spielburg really direct this film. Dreadful, awful, terrible. I want my money back, I feel cheated.

It's almost as if 3 different people directed this movive. The first third of the film is slow and plodding and far too long. The middle third depicts the war and the scenes are horrific and exhausting. The last third is brilliant. The contrast between the brutality of war and the humanity of the people caught up in it is interesting. The horse must have had a lucky horseshoe to do what he did. It gave me goosebumps several times near the end but overall not one of Spielberg's best.

Excellent movie, i was worried that it wouldn't stay like the book but it did with license. It was touching, heartwarming and the battle scenes were just like my great grandparents described them. It my not be for everyone but i know my family enjoyed it

Sad to see Steven Spielberg stoop to this quality of movie. Much of it was unbelievable and the scenes depicting the horrific treatment of the horses made me wonder how many animals suffered to make this movie. Disturbing. The book was so much better. The war scenes were intended to horrify the audience and were not believable .. in fact ridiculous in the scene where the enemies shared a wire cutter duh...

The scene at the beginning when the father bids for the horse only because his rich landlord wants it, so he spends money he doesn't have, thereby forcing his family to live in fear and poverty, is unbelievable. No motive is given for this. Only an idiot would give him money away like that, and by doing so, take the roof away from his wife and son's heads and food from their mouths.
