I don’t get it, why do people “hate” this movie? Especially the second half is really an emotional roller coaster ride. There are absolutely gorgeous performances by Jessie Buckley, the Jupi brothers and their sisters, and also Emily Watson as the grandmother. Can’t get tired of it!

so plain. This story is interesting, why? The arrogance of some filmmakers to think their boring drivel, and unnecessarily disturbing portions are viable entertainment. Most overrated film since the English patient and dances with wolves

I liked the female lead because her acting was so genuine and I can relate to a lot of her emotions. I cried both times I saw it because it had such an impact on me. I couldn't figure out why no one was talking about this wonerful movie. It took a while to catch on with the public then it was receiving all kinds of awards.

Jessica Buckley again. After Wicked little Letters. Exceptional acting Pascal and her together really carried the story.

Manipulative for sure, but many will shed a tear. The feeling of death was well done in this movie. You could feel the loss and the actors did their best to give life to the screenplay about a mysterious period of time. There are moments where the story struggles, because we don't know much about Anne Hathaway. The weaker scenes feel anachronistic. Wikipedia: "Historian Katherine Scheil describes Hathaway as a 'wife-shaped void' used by modern writers 'as a canvas for expressing contemporary woman's struggles—over independence, single motherhood, sexual freedom, unfaithful husbands, woman's education and power-relations between husband and wife.'" As a meditation on facing death, that's where the movie has its strengths.

Jesse Buckley: WOW! What a brilliant actress, she is so raw. I'll be upset if she won't win the Oscar. Paul Mescal was beautiful as always. The children are mesmerizing. The last scene will all the incredible backgrounds, their reaction made it so reel, wow!
