The Peasants Synopsis

Jagna (Kamila Urzedowska) is a peasant, an ethereal soul who likes to make paper cutouts and take care of helpless animals. She’s also a beauty who attracts many a village lad. But in a community where woman are essentially bought and sold, her mother (Ewa Kasprzyk)
forces Jagna to marry Maciej Boryna (Miroslaw Baka), a much older widower who is also the area’s richest farmer.

In return, Boryna gives Jagna six acres of land. "Love comes and goes… but land stays," says her mother. Meanwhile, Jagna has fallen into a torrid affair with Boryna's son Antek (Robert Gulaczyk).
