Union representative Michel (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) is freshly unemployed because, as a crew boss and a socialist at a shipyard in Marseilles, he thought his name should also go into the hat when the company held a draw for downsizing. Michel's wife, Ariane (Ariane Ascaride), cleans the homes of the wealthy for a living.
On the occasion of their wedding anniversary, Michel and Ariane, who are in their fifties, are given money and two tickets for a trip to Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa from their family and friends. Soon after, during a quiet evening at home, two masked men break in and beat them violently before taking all their money.
When Michel finds out that one of the attackers is a shipyard employee who was laid off, and who is responsible for his two younger brothers, he and Marie-Claire find themselves immersed in a moral dilemma. In French with English subtitles.
