Future of Film Showcase Synopsis

The Future of Film Showcase (FOFS) returns to Paradise Theatre for its 12th edition, celebrating the boldest voices in emerging Canadian cinema. Dedicated to spotlighting the next generation of filmmakers, FOFS presents a dynamic four-day program of screenings, industry panels, and special events, all championing fresh perspectives and underrepresented talent from across the country.

This year’s lineup features the Toronto Premieres of the feature films Fortescue by Rebeccah Love, Cherub by Devin Shears, and Rien De Mal, a Telefilm Talent to Watch film by Samuel Plante, along with a curated selection of short films. Festival highlights also include a masterclass with Oscar-nominated cinematographer Lawrence Sher (Joker, Garden State), a live pitch competition, and the return of our Rising Star & Trailblazer Award keynote, featuring Humberly González and Devery Jacobs in conversation.

FOFS is a Canadian Screen Awards-qualifying festival and a vital platform for emerging talent working across film, television, and new media. Join us in celebrating the future of Canadian storytelling, right here at the Paradise Theatre.
